Protesters gathered on Saturday to commemorate the 13th anniversary of the Rabaa Square massacre, during which over a thousand peaceful Egyptian protesters were killed by the country's army, headed by now-president Abd el Fatah al Sisi.
"The Rabaa massacre is a wound that doesn't heal," said Tarek Morsy, a former Egyptian MP, and added that there is not a specific day to commemorate the massacre, as it "always lives in our hearts and minds."
